Rules for Abstract and Report Submission

ABSTRACTS CAN BE SUBMITTED FROM JUNE 15 TO AUGUST 15 ONLY VIA THE WEBSITE WWW.RACVS.RU

AFTER AUGUST 15 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CLOSES AUTOMATICALLY

Rules for Abstract Submission

The author should enter the system under his/her name and then upload the abstracts in conformity with the guidelines specified in the form of electronic submission. After your abstract is uploaded you will receive a confirmation to your e-mail.

If you did not receive the confirmation, your abstract registration was not probably finished and you have to repeat the process.

The abstracts should be typed in Russian or English (for foreign participants).

The maximum of 3000 spaced signs is permitted. The tables or illustrations are prohibited.

The abstract should contain four chapters: AIM, METHODS, RESULTS, and CONCLUSIONS.

The abbreviations are not permitted in the text and the title. The exception is made only for frequently used ones: (AHD, CHD, CABG etc.).

The title should be typed in LOWER CASES starting by upper case; the initials of the authors should follow the family name (do not indicate scientific degrees). Up to 8 authors can be included.

The text of the abstract must disclose the relevance and the purpose of study (AIM); the methods of study (METHODS); the main data and statistical significance (RESULTS); the main conclusions obtained during the study (CONCLUSIONS).

Mark the section corresponding to your abstract’s content (sections: congenital heart defects, or acquired heart defects, or heart rhythm disturbances, etc.).

Previously published abstracts will not be published.

The abstracts sent by e-mail will not be considered.

All abstracts will be submitted to scientific review.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide (without any explanations) on the form of the presentation, as well as to refuse the publication.

The Abstracts sent after August 15, 2018 or presented unduly will not be considered by the Program Committee.

GUIDELINES FOR ORAL PRESENTATION

Time limit for an oral presentation is 7 minutes + 3 minutes for discussion. Presentations for the reports should be done in Power Point. It is obligatory to save the files on flash memory stick, previously checked by the antivirus scanner. Presentations are to be uploaded in the Speaker center beforehand (at least an hour prior to the speech).

GUIDELINES FOR E-POSTER PRESENTATION

How is an E-Poster presented?

E-posters should be presented in special halls. Generally, the author is allotted not more than 4 min. The presenter operates the slide show using a wheel mouse. The presentation is viewed on the monitor screen.

What is an Electronic Poster or E-Poster?

An E-Poster is an electronic version of the traditional boards, where the material for oral presentation displayed on monitor screens using Power Point slides. E-Poster may include text, figures, tables and images and no video/animations.

How to create an E-Poster?

Please use PowerPoint 2003, 2007 or 2010 and save as «file name.ppt» or «file name.pptx». It is one file which is launched for viewing.

E-POSTER PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS

General requirements:

  • The number of slides should be limited to 8
  • The text should be clear and concise. Please use Arial (sans-serif) or standard Times New Roman font.
  • Minimum suggested font size: is 24 point size; and 32 point size for titles.
  • Make sure your text and background have a large contrast: for example, “black on a white background”, “yellow or white on a black, dark blue or green background. One-colour background is required.
  • Avoid multicolour slides – do not ornament slides.
  • Add empty lines between paragraphs or top indents.
  • Use subtitles.

Slide format requirements:

  • Titles should reflect the content
  • Round numerical values of your results
  • Provide charts and histograms with scales
  • Axis of data presented in the graphic should be indicated, tables are also should be titled.
  • If possible, shorten the text, retaining the core
  • Reduce tables – do no use large ones
  • Use general abbreviations, such as for example, CHD, CABG, LV, etc.
  • Do not include footnotes
  • Add your last name and all the coauthors
  • You can use images of one resolution (please see the instruction of pictures compression in PowerPoint 2010)
  • All photos, images, graphs and tables must have titles

Please do not include audio, video and animated files in your E-Poster presentation. All the data should be displayed on the slide when opened.

GUIDELINES FOR VIDEO PRESENTATION:

Video presentation is to be submitted as a special abstract category through the abstract submission system to the section of the appropriate category (video presentation). Video presentation should last not more than 10 min. Video materials are to be converted into WMV format.
